Jeremy Irons was cast as Snape but pulled out of it, so they cast Alan Rickman instead.
It was Iron's voice (the voice of Scar and Jafar) that I heard in my head when I was reading the books, although now its a mix between Rickman's and Iron's

That's not right - Alan Rickman was hand-picked to play Snape by J.K. Rowling right from the beginning..! Jeremy Irons was never casted. There was talk about it though(:
